The second annual meeting of the Baltic Data Protection Institutions took place in Riga on 21 – 22 March 2013. Within the meeting different practical issues related to data protection were discussed, as well as the outcome of Schengen Evaluation mission regarding data protection which took place in 2012 in the all three Baltic countries.
Exchange of information and practical work of data protection institutions is one of the core elements of these meetings. Thus the Baltic Data Protection Institutions also shared their concern regarding the practical EU data protection reform package implementation and concluded the necessity to cooperate also regarding this issue.
Regarding the joint investigation it was decided that in 2013 the personal data processing and protection within gambling sector would be reviewed in Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia.
It is foreseen that the cooperation of the Baltic Data Protection Institutions will be continued and the next annual meeting will take place in Vilnius, Lithuania in 2014.
